GHL Vortech controller and Mobius compatibility

About this article

Due to EcoTech’s decision to restrict 3rd party control, Vortech pumps running on Mobius firmware will not be controllable via the GHL Vortech controller. This change prevents Vortech firmware from being rolled back and 3rd party control is no longer supported on current model Vortech pumps.

The GHL Vortech controller can only control Vortech pumps running on pre-Mobius firmware.

Not everyone is affected

The issue of incompatibility applies to individuals who just updated their Vortech drivers to the Mobius-ready firmware. Doing this will inevitably prevent any communication between your GHL device and Vortech drivers.

The issue may also apply to those who recently purchased a new Vortech pump. QuietDrive Vortech pumps that were built after June 1, 2020, will have the Mobius firmware preloaded. If you plan to control your Vortech pumps through the ProfiLux, you will need to perform a firmware downgrade. This process can take up to 20 minutes.

If you currently have your Vortech pump(s) controlled by your GHL controller and they are responding to your commands, there is no need to make any changes to your setup.

IMPORTANT (As of 12/02/21)

Vortech pumps with a manufacture date of December 02, 2021 or later cannot be downgraded. As of now, it is unclear if ETM will provide an update that allows drivers to be downgraded.

No changes need to be made to GHL Vortech controller

This article and issue only applies to the firmware version running on the Vortech driver itself. You do not need to do anything with the GHL Vortech controller; no firmware updates are necessary on this device.

Performing for the downgrade

In order to downgrade the firmware on your Vortech driver, you will need to download the Mobius app on your phone or tablet.

IMPORTANT (As of 12/02/21)

Vortech pumps with a manufacture date of December 02, 2021 or later cannot be downgraded at this time. As of now, it is unclear if ETM will provide an update that allows drivers to be downgraded.
