Benthocosms in Kiel
ProfiLux controllers support scientific experiments about the global climate change Following example shows in an impressive way how science uses one of the numerous special functions of the ProfiLux: The dynamic setpoint control. The scientists expose these biocoenoses to changed environment conditions. In one experiment the actual temperature and pH-value of the Kiel Fjord are measured and the forecasted changes for the temperature and the pH-value for 2100 are added up, then these values are simulated in the Benthocosms. In another experiment heatwaves of various frequency and intensity are simulated. Often the experiment conditions are varied in the several Benthocosms in order to be able to verify and compare the results later, some of the Benthocosms are operated under normal conditions as a control group. Some liquids tend to settle and require stirring before being dosed into the aquarium. The new GHL Magnetic Stirrer can handle this task with ease and comfortably. At any time or immediately prior to dosing the magnetic stirrer mixes the liquid to be dosed.The GHL Magnetic Stirrer works by utilizing a magnetic stir bar placed into a liquid container. Once activated, the stir bar is moved by a rotating counter magnet inside the magnetic stirrer itself. Connection to the GHL Doser 2 is simple. Four of our High-Power LED-lights illuminating a 500 gallon saltwater tank in the Vero Beach Museum of Art (Florida, USA). These photos have been taken during installation,so the water is still a bit cloudy. The tank was installed by our friend Chris Portale from The Fish Store in Fort Pierce.
