Summary #
Digital inputs allow external devices โ such as float switches, reed contacts, or relay outputs โ to trigger ProfiLux functions directly. When a connected contact closes and pulls the input to ground, ProfiLux activates the assigned function. Digital inputs require the PLM-ADIN expansion card, which provides 4 digital inputs and 2 analog inputs per card.
Applies to #
- ProfiLux 4 Series (incl. Industrial Line / IL)
- ProfiLux 3 Series
- Software:
- GHL Connect (App, Webinterface, myGHL)
- GHL Control Center
Before you start #
- PLM-ADIN expansion card required: The card must be installed in a free expansion slot in the ProfiLux before use. ProfiLux recognizes the card automatically on the next restart. Install or remove the card only when the ProfiLux is powered off. See the Expansion Cards โ Setup Guideย guide and the PLM-ADIN Manual for installation and wiring details.
Configuration #
Open Digital input settings via System โ Digital input in GHL Control Center or Digital input in GHL Connect. All available inputs are listed with their current state and assigned function.
Open an input for editing by double-clicking it or selecting it and clicking Edit (GHL Control Center). In GHL Connect, the function can be changed directly via a dropdown in the list.
The key setting per input is the Function โ what ProfiLux does when the input is activated:
- None: The input is monitored but triggers no action directly. The state is still visible, can be used as an input for Programmable Logic, and can serve as the detection signal for Power Cut monitoring โ all without a function assigned here.
- Water change 1โ4: Starts the corresponding water change program when the input activates.
- Maintenance 1โ4: Activates the corresponding maintenance program when the input activates.
- Feed pause 1โ4: Triggers the corresponding feed pause when the input activates.
- Thunderstorm: Starts a thunderstorm simulation when the input activates.
Notes #
- Input numbering with multiple cards: Digital inputs are numbered sequentially based on the slot position of each PLM-ADIN card. Slots are counted from left to right when viewed from the rear of the ProfiLux, starting at Slot 1. Inputs from a card in a lower-numbered slot are assigned first, followed by higher-numbered slots. Inputs from cards in an Expansion Box continue the numbering after all ProfiLux slots.
- Use in Programmable Logic: Regardless of the function assigned here, any digital input can also be used as an input signal in Programmable Logic. This allows combining a digital input with other conditions such as timers or sensor states. See the Programmable Logic โ Configuration Guide.
- Use in Power Cut monitoring: Digital inputs can serve as the power cut detection signal. See the Feed Pause, Maintenance & Power Cut โ Configuration Guide for setup details.
- Analog inputs: The PLM-ADIN card also provides 2 analog inputs (0โ10 V), which appear as Voltage sensors in ProfiLux (numbered sequentially across all installed cards) and are configured in the sensor settings. See Sensors โ Configuration Guideย for details.
