Different aquariums need different light. The Mitras LX8 comes in three models with different baseline spectra — same hardware, different LED population, each tuned for a specific use case. Up to 12 independent channels and ample power reserves let you customize the spectrum across a wide range.
LX 8006
Freshwater. Tuned for plant photosynthesis and fish coloration across the full visible range. 4 different white temperatures form a natural daylight base, with red and hyper-red components feeding chlorophyll, plus accents in blue and the mid band. Widely adjustable from warm to cool daylight.

This wide, even coverage isn’t just a function of raw LED output. The six clusters sit as far apart as the active surface allows — pushed to the edges of the fixture — while multi-LED reflectors focus each LED’s beam straight down. The geometry does as much work as the 250 W behind it.
The Mitras LX8 delivers an SPS-suitable PAR level of 200 µmol/m²/s or higher across a circular area of approx. 95 cm in diameter. For LPS corals and mixed reef setups, the area receiving 100 µmol/m²/s or more extends to approx. 125 cm in diameter.

Here’s what’s actually behind the LX8’s efficiency: 132 premium LEDs, well below their rated current — less heat, more lumens per watt, longer lifetime. Twelve individually tunable channels let you match the spectrum to your aquarium and to your eye. Result: less wasted energy, more growth — and a tank that looks the way you want it.
Flexible Control
Alongside the integrated WiFi, the Mitras LX8 has a dedicated radio link for Mitras-to-Mitras communication. Three operating modes for any setup:
- Standalone — full functionality on its own.
- Master — controls one or multiple fixtures from a single point.
- Slave — follows a Master LX8 or integrates into a ProfiLux ecosystem.
Tailored Light Spectrum
Twelve (ten in Coral Pop version) individually adjustable LED channels plus a dedicated moonlight channel — each driven by true flicker-free analog dimming. The high internal resolution gives you tiny 0.025% steps per channel, with smooth transitions across the entire intensity range.
Smart Cooling — Silent
Two large fans move air gently across a heatsink that spans the entire footprint of the LX8 — both so generously dimensioned that the fans can spin slowly. Temperature-controlled and always at the lowest possible speed, they deliver quiet operation.
Should ambient conditions ever become extreme, brightness is smoothly reduced as an added safeguard — preserving full LED lifetime and performance.
Proprietary Reflectors
The Mitras LX8 features GHL’s Total Reflection and Diffusion Technology (TRDT™). Each LED sits in its own microreflector. The high-performance reflector material achieves near-100% reflection and diffusion, this precision-engineered system delivers exceptional optical performance — an optimal balance between light spread and penetration depth that clearly outperforms traditional secondary optics, particularly lenses.
The result: flawless, uniform color blending across the entire illuminated area.

Illuminate every Corner
Each of the LX8’s six clusters packs 22 LEDs onto a 45 × 32 mm footprint — just millimeters between colors. Mixing happens right at the source, refined by TRDT reflectors. Homogeneous light without a diffuser.
The clusters themselves sit as far apart as the active surface allows — pushed to the edges of the fixture. Wider spacing means more uniform PAR across the tank, and the focused cluster beams overlap into the natural shimmer of open water.
Latest LED Generation
The LX8 uses the latest generation of high-power LEDs — sourced across multiple leading manufacturers and selected per color: best-in-class blues from one supplier, best UV diodes from another, best whites from a third. Every LED is then individually binned for output and color consistency, so each cluster delivers the same spectrum and the same brightness.

WiFi is built in. Control the LX8 from the GHL Connect app on iOS or Android, from any browser via the built-in web server, from a PC through GHL Control Center, or from anywhere in the world via the optional myGHL cloud service — simultaneously, no extra hub or bridge required.
Every user interface works directly on your home network without an internet connection. The cloud is there when you want remote access; never required when you don’t.
A dedicated radio for fixture-to-fixture communication. Multi-LX8 installations and ProfiLux integration run on their own band — staying perfectly in sync without competing with your home WiFi for bandwidth.
OTA firmware updates roll out wirelessly. USB stays on board as a backup path.
Ambient Glow
A continuous RGB light strip wraps the entire perimeter of the LX8 — adding visual character to the luminaire and a soft glow to the room around your tank. Four modes:
Ambient — the strip color tracks the average color of the main LEDs, mirroring the mood above your tank
Constant — pick any color and intensity to match your room
Status (with ProfiLux) — see at a glance whether the system is running normally, dosing, or in an alarm state

Mitras LX8 may not be used in a closed aquarium below a cover. The clearance between water surface and Mitras LX8 must beat least 20 cm (7.9″).
