Summary #
GHL devices are configured and monitored using GHL Connect (app for iOS and Android) and GHL Control Center (Windows desktop software). This article covers downloading and installing both tools, adding devices to each platform, and connecting via USB.
Applies to #
- GHL Connect (iOS, Android)
- GHL Control Center (Windows)
GHL Connect #
Download & Installation #
On Android devices without access to the Play Store, the app can also be installed directly as an APK: GHL Connect APK.
First Launch & myGHL Account #
On first launch, a setup wizard guides you through the initial configuration. You can create a new myGHL account or sign in to an existing one. To sign in or register later, open App settings. Once signed in, all devices registered to your myGHL account appear automatically. Local connections you have added previously are also available if CloudStorage is enabled.
Adding a Device #
New or unconfigured device
For a device that has not yet been connected to a network, use the First Time Setup Wizard in GHL Connect. The app connects to the device’s built-in Access Point and guides you through the network configuration. See the Network (LAN & WiFi) โ Setup Guide for details.
Already configured device
To add a device that is already on your network, tap Add device, select the device model, then select Create a new Connection and follow the on-screen steps.
GHL Control Center #
Download & Installation #
GHL Control Center is available for Windows only. The required USB driver is included in the installer and installed automatically.
Adding a Device #
Open Devices โ Manage from the top menu bar, then click New. Select the device model and configure the connection settings:
USB connection (RS232/USB)
- Type of connection: Select RS232/USB.
- COM port:
- AUTO: GHL Control Center scans all USB ports for a connected GHL device. Convenient when only one GHL device is connected via USB.
- Specific COM port: Select the correct port manually โ recommended when multiple GHL devices are connected via USB. To find the port number, open Device Manager โ GHL Control Center provides a shortcut button for this directly in the connection settings. Look for the device under Ports (COM & LPT): it should appear as GHL Virtual Communications Port (COMx). On some systems a generic USB Serial Device (COMx) may appear instead โ this is also functional as long as no driver error is shown.
- Baud rate: Leave at the default value.
Network connection (TCP/IP)
- Type of connection: Select Network (TCP/IP).
- Search automatically: Disable this and enter the IP address manually.
- Host name: Enter the device’s IP address.
- Port: Leave at 10001.
For initial network configuration of a new device, first connect via USB, then configure the network settings under System โ Communication. See the Network (LAN & WiFi) โ Setup Guide for details.
Click Save. To connect, double-click the new entry, or select it and choose Devices โ Connect.
Adding a Device to myGHL #
Once a device is connected to the network, it can be registered to your myGHL account for remote access and cloud features. Two methods are available.
Via GHL Connect (recommended) #
- In GHL Connect, navigate to System and activate myGHL โ set the access level to Enabled read only or Enabled full access and save.
- Once saved, the button Add this GHL-device to myGHL appears (only shown when the device is not yet linked and you are signed in to myGHL).
- Tap the button, enter a name for the device and confirm โ the device is added to your myGHL account automatically.
Via myghl.com #
- On the device, navigate to System in GHL Connect or System โ Communication in GHL Control Center and activate myGHL. Note the myGHL ID shown there.
- On myghl.com, click Add device, enter the myGHL ID and click Next. This causes the Security key on the device to update.
- Read the updated Security key from the device โ in GHL Control Center it updates automatically; in GHL Connect, reload the System page first to see the new key.
- Enter the Security key on myghl.com, assign a name and confirm.
Common Issues #
Cause
The USB driver is missing or was not installed correctly. In Device Manager, a driver error icon is shown next to the device entry, or no entry appears at all under Ports (COM & LPT).
Solution
Reinstall GHL Control Center โ the installer will reinstall the USB driver automatically. Make sure you are using the original USB cable that came with the device.
