Aquarium controller and LED luminaire as one system
Most LED luminaires and aquarium controllers cannot communicate with each other at all. Where a connection exists, it is usually an analog, wired interface that does little more than dim one or a few channels. The luminaire runs on its own schedule, the controller runs the rest of the aquarium, and the two know nothing about each other.
How it works
Digital and wireless.
What this means in practice
Everything configured in one device
Water parameters, pump control, dosing, lighting: everything is set up and managed in the ProfiLux. The lighting program for the Mitras LX8 is part of that configuration, not a separate setup in a separate app. One device holds the complete picture of your aquarium.
Lighting and aquarium work together
Maintenance mode switches the light to a setting of your choice while you work on the aquarium. Clouds, moon phases and seasons run synchronized on all luminaires. In a thunderstorm the ProfiLux can even increase pump flow while the flashes intensify.
Protection against overheating
If the water temperature exceeds the limit you have set, the ProfiLux reduces the output of the Mitras LX8. Less light means less energy entering the water. The luminaire needs no temperature sensor of its own: it uses the one the controller already has.
Problems shown on the luminaire itself
Warnings and alarms from the ProfiLux are displayed through Ambient Glow on the Mitras LX8. You see at a glance that something needs your attention, without opening an app or looking at the controller display. Normal operation, dosing and alarm states are clearly distinguishable.
A controller that knows the luminaire and a luminaire that knows the aquarium: this is what we mean by a system.
What you need
A ProfiLux 4 or ProfiLux 4.1 with the PLM-PWC expansion card, and one or more Mitras LX8. Available at GHL and at your GHL dealer. Temperature-dependent light reduction and status display via Ambient Glow require ProfiLux firmware 7.53 or later.
