Summary #
ProfiLux provides three related mechanisms for temporarily pausing or adjusting equipment: Feed Pause, Maintenance, and Power Cut monitoring. Feed Pause briefly suspends filtration and flow pumps during feeding so food is not swept away; Maintenance lets you switch off or dim equipment for tank work; Power Cut monitoring automatically activates a Maintenance program when a power cut is detected.
Applies to #
- ProfiLux 4 Series (incl. Industrial Line / IL)
- ProfiLux 3 Series
- ProfiLux Mini / Light (all versions) โ Power Cut monitoring not available
- Software:
- GHL Connect (App, Webinterface, myGHL)
- GHL Control Center
Before you start #
For Power Cut monitoring only:
- Separate power supply required: The ProfiLux and any equipment that should remain active or be controlled during a power cut must be on a UPS or other battery-backed circuit that continues to supply power when mains power is lost.
- Hardware signal required: Detecting a power cut requires an external signal โ either a contact output from a connected device wired to a digital input, or the GHL Power Cut Adapter connected to the LineMon input (ProfiLux 4 only). See Digital Inputs โ Configuration Guide for digital input setup.
Feed Pause #
A Feed Pause temporarily pauses equipment so food is not immediately removed from the water surface during feeding. The pause runs for a set duration and then ends automatically.
Open the Feed Pause settings via Extras โ Feeding. Feed Pause settings are in the Feed pauses tab (GHL Connect) or section (GHL Control Center). ProfiLux 3 and 4 support up to 4 independent feed pauses; ProfiLux Mini and Light support 1.
Each feed pause has the following settings:
- Filter off: When enabled, the switch channel assigned to the Filter function is switched off during this pause. This specifically controls the Filter function and does not affect other equipment that may react to feed pauses through their own settings โ such as the Shut off during feeding option in Switch Channels or feed pause reactions in Pump Groups.
- Duration: How long the pause runs in minutes.
- Activated by timer (Timer activates in GHL Connect): Select a timer to trigger the pause automatically. The timer must be set to Event Start mode โ it fires at the scheduled time and the pause then runs for the configured duration.
- Activated by feeder (Auto. feeder activates in GHL Connect): Select an automatic feeder that triggers the pause when a feeding event occurs.
Each feed pause also has a Start/Stop button for manual activation.
Various features allow equipment to react to feed pauses through their own settings, including Switch Channels and Pump Groups.
Maintenance #
A Maintenance program lets you define which equipment is switched off, switched on, or dimmed while you perform tank maintenance. Up to 4 independent Maintenance programs are available on ProfiLux 3 and 4; ProfiLux Mini and Light support 1. The same programs are used for Power Cut monitoring.
Open Maintenance settings via Extras โ Maintenance/Power cut X in GHL Control Center (where X is the program number 1โ4, listed individually in the menu tree), or via Extras โ Maintenance/Power cut in GHL Connect and select the desired program from the list.
Equipment Behavior During Maintenance #
Three tables define what happens to connected equipment when this Maintenance program is active. In GHL Connect each table opens via a separate button.
- Switchplugs (Sockets in GHL Connect): Select which switch channels are affected and set their state to On or Off during maintenance.
- 1-10V interfaces: Select which 1-10V interfaces are affected and set the output level as a percentage โ use this to dim or fully switch off connected lighting or pumps.
- Mitras Lightbar: Select which LED color channels are affected and set the brightness level during maintenance.
Activating Maintenance Manually #
The Max. duration / Duration field at the bottom of the page sets how long the maintenance runs when started manually (in minutes). A checkbox or button next to it starts or stops the maintenance program manually.
Power Cut Monitoring #
Power Cut monitoring automatically activates a Maintenance program when a power cut is detected. This allows power-intensive equipment such as pumps to be switched off or reduced during the outage โ extending the UPS runtime for essential equipment โ and ensures a controlled return to normal operation once power is restored. Equipment requiring a controlled shutdown can also be handled this way.
This feature is available on ProfiLux 3 and ProfiLux 4 Series only.
Step 1 โ Configure the Maintenance program #
Open the Maintenance program you want to use for power cut events and configure the equipment behavior as described above. Then in the Power cut monitoring section of the same page, enable Activate this maintenance program during power cut and configure what happens after power returns:
- Be immediately deactivated: The maintenance program ends as soon as power is restored and the system returns to normal operation.
- Not be deactivated automatically, only manually: After power returns, the maintenance program remains active and must be stopped manually using the Start/Stop button.
- Be deactivated manually or after a certain time: After power returns, the maintenance program stays active until stopped manually via the Start/Stop button, or until the delay time expires. Enter the duration in minutes in the field next to this option.
The Actual power state field shows the current status โ either OK or Power cut.
Step 2 โ Enable Power Cut Monitoring in System settings #
Configure the detection method under System โ Power cut monitoring:
- Disabled: Power cut monitoring is not active.
- Use digital input: An external contact signal connected to a digital input indicates the power state. Select the digital input index after choosing this option.
- Use LineMon-input: Uses the dedicated LineMon input with the GHL Power Cut Adapter. ProfiLux 4 Series only.
The Actual power state here also reflects the current status as detected by the configured input.
Notes #
- Maintenance programs are shared: The same programs are used for both manual maintenance and power cut events. A program assigned to power cut monitoring can still be activated manually.
- Combining with Programmable Logic: For more complex automation around maintenance states, see the Programmable Logic โ Configuration Guide.
