Applies to #
- ProfiLux 4 Series (incl. Industrial Line / IL)
- ProfiLux 3 Series
- ProfiLux Mini / Light (all versions)
- GHL Doser 2 / 3 Standalone (incl. Maxi / IL variants)
- Mitras LX8 Series
- Mitras LX7 Series (incl. Industrial Line / IL)
- Mitras LX6 Series
- PAB devices
- Software:
- GHL Control Center
- GHL Connect (App, Webinterface)
Before you start #
- Back up your settings before a standard firmware update. Depending on the size of the firmware jump, settings may need to be restored after the update. For network module updates, a backup is also recommended to preserve network settings in case they are reset during the process. See Backup, Restore & Factory Reset for instructions.
- All firmware updates require a direct local connection to the device โ updates via myGHL cloud are not supported.
Firmware Update #
GHL Control Center #
A USB connection to the device is required. The firmware files are included in the GHL Control Center installation โ update GHL Control Center to ensure you have the latest firmware version available.
Open the Extras tab in the top menu bar. Under the Maintenance section, click Firmwareupdate to start the update wizard and follow the prompts.
GHL Connect App and Webinterface #
Firmware update via GHL Connect is only available on devices with an ESP32 network module, including:
- ProfiLux 4.1
- ProfiLux Mini / Light WiFi 2
- GHL Doser 3 models
- ProfiLux 4 models with PLM-WiFiLAN expansion card
Two access paths are available โ both are shown only on supported devices:
- My Devices page (App only): Tap the gear icon on a locally connected device and select Start firmware update wizard.
- System page (App and Webinterface): Navigate to System and tap Start Firmware Update Wizard.
The wizard downloads the latest firmware automatically or allows you to select a local file.
Network Module Update #
The network module can be updated separately from the main device firmware. This applies to devices with an ESP module โ not available for ProfiLux 3 or Doser 2.0 / 2.1.
GHL Connect App and Webinterface #
Two access paths are available:
- My Devices page (App only): Tap the gear icon on a locally connected device and select Start network module update wizard.
- Network page (App and Webinterface): Navigate to Network and tap File transfer.
Browser Tool (USB) #
The online tool at api.myghl.com/wifi-update updates or recovers the network module via USB. A Chromium-based browser is required (Chrome, Edge, or Opera). Connect the device via USB, open the tool in a browser, and follow the on-screen instructions. The tool automatically downloads and installs the latest firmware and filesystem. After completion, disconnect the USB cable and reboot the deviceโ in some cases, network settings may be reset to factory defaults.
This tool is also the recommended method when the network module is unresponsive and cannot be reached over the network.
Manual Update via Local Web Interface (IP Address) #
Use this option if the device is reachable on the local network (its IP address responds) but GHL Connect or the normal web interface cannot be loaded โ for example after a failed update. It only requires a local network connection; no USB cable and no internet access are needed.
Step 1: Download the correct files
Identify which network module your device uses and download both the firmware and filesystem file for that group:
- ESP32 (current generation network module, e.g. GHL Doser 3 / Maxi Doser 3, ProfiLux 4 models with PLM-WiFiLAN expansion card):
- ESP8266 (older network module, e.g. ProfiLux 4 / 4e onboard, ProfiLux Mini / Light WiFi, GHL Doser 2.2 / Maxi Doser 2.2, Mitras LX7):
Step 2: Perform the update
- Open a web browser (Firefox or Chrome recommended) and type the device’s IP address followed by
/updateinto the address bar (for example, 192.168.1.150/update). A minimal update page with upload fields will appear. - Next to Firmware, click Choose File, select the downloaded
firmware.bin, and click Update. Wait 30โ60 seconds for the device to reboot. - Reload the update page. Next to Filesystem, click Choose File, select the downloaded
filesystem.bin, and click Update. Wait for the device to reboot again.
PAB Device Firmware Update #
PAB device firmware is updated via GHL Control Center only โ a USB connection to the ProfiLux is required. This is not yet available in GHL Connect.
- Before starting: Only the device to be updated may be connected via PAB. Disconnect or power off all other PAB devices and connect the target device directly to the ProfiLux.
Open the Extras tab in the top menu bar. Under the PAB section, click Firmwareupdate to start the update wizard and follow the prompts.
PAB Emergency Update #
If a PAB device does not respond to the normal update process, an emergency update can be performed within the same wizard. Start the update as usual. When prompted to restart the PAB device, disconnect it from power and reconnect it, then immediately click OK to proceed. For a normal update, simply dismiss this prompt directly.
Emergency Update #
If a device cannot be updated through the normal process โ for example because it is unresponsive after a failed update โ an emergency update procedure may be required. This typically involves physically accessing the device (opening the case or pressing a reset button or key combination) to put it into update mode. The exact procedure differs per device and is described in the respective emergency update instructions in the Downloads section below.
Common Issues #
Cause
The USB driver required for the firmware update is missing or not installed correctly.
Solution
Reinstalling GHL Control Center typically reinstalls the required USB driver as well. See the GHL Connect & GHL Control Center โ Installation & Setupย for details on the USB connection and driver setup.
Cause
Other PAB devices were still connected during the update, or the wrong firmware file was selected for the device.
Solution
Perform an emergency update on each affected PAB device. Make sure only the target device is connected via PAB during the update, and that the correct firmware file for that specific device is selected.
