Summary #
The ProfiLux supports several methods for controlling a return pump, depending on your pump type and the level of control you need. This article explains the available options and helps you identify the right approach for your setup.
Applies to #
- ProfiLux 4 Series (incl. Industrial Line / IL)
- ProfiLux 3 Series
- Software:
- GHL Connect (App, Webinterface, myGHL)
- GHL Control Center
Control methods #
GHL Versia Flow #
The Versia Flow is GHL’s own variable-speed return pump. It connects to the ProfiLux via the Versia Controller and PAB, and is fully managed through Pump Groups.
On/Off control via Powerbar socket #
The simplest option. The return pump is plugged into a Powerbar socket and switched on or off by the ProfiLux. Use this when your pump does not support variable speed control.
The socket can be configured to switch off automatically during feed pauses or maintenance, and scheduled with a timer if needed.
See: Switch Channels โ Configuration Guide
Flow schedules and programs via Pump Groups #
Once your return pump is connected and assigned to a pump channel, Pump Groups let you create schedules, configure nocturnal flow reduction, and define reactions to system events including feed pauses and maintenance. Use Permanent or Permanent opposite mode for constant-speed return pump operation within a group.
See: Pump Groups โ Configuration Guide
Variable speed control via 1-10V interface #
If your return pump supports 1-10V speed control, the ProfiLux can regulate the pump speed directly. This allows you to set minimum and maximum speeds, react to feed pauses and maintenance, and use a flow sensor to maintain a constant flow rate regardless of head pressure changes.
Notes #
- Leak detection: The ProfiLux can automatically shut down the return pump when a leak is detected via a connected leak sensor. This is configured as a switch channel reaction and applies regardless of the control method used.
- Feed pause and maintenance: All control methods support automatic pump behavior during feed pauses and maintenance. See: Feed Pause, Maintenance & Power Cut โ Configuration Guide
