About this article

Welcome to the GHL Doser 2.2 initial setup guide!

This article will show you how to connect and setup your Standalone Doser for the first time using the GHL Connect app.

Are you a Mac computer user?

No worries! You can still get the Standalone Doser setup by using the web browser (Google Chrome recommended) on your computer. For steps on how to do that, watch the “Web browser” initial setup video.

Preparation

Before you begin with the initial setup, do the following:

  • Find a suitable place for your GHL device, away from splash areas and excess humidity
  • Connect dosing tube adapters or nozzles

Download GHL Connect App

  1. Go to the app store on your phone and search for GHL Connect
  2. Download app, then open it
  3. Follow initial app setup steps
During initial app setup, you have the option to login to your myGHL account or create a new account. If you wish to skip myGHL account setup, select NO.

Connect to Doser / setup Wi-Fi for the first time

1. In the “My Devices” page, press ADD DEVICE

2. Select your GHL Doser (2.2 or 2.2 Maxi)

3. Select New Configuration

4. Power OFF the GHL device, then power it back ON, then press NEXT

5. Tap the OPEN WIFI SETTINGS NOW button and connect to the GHLDEV hotspot network. Once your phone or tablet is connected to the hotspot, you will see the YELLOW Wi-Fi light turn ON at the back of your GHL Doser. Press NEXT to proceed.

The default password for the GHLDEV network is:
Starfish

6. In the SSID field, type-in the name of your Wi-Fi network

7. In the Wi-Fi key field, type-in the password for your Wi-Fi network

Your GHL device must be connected to a 2.4gHz network.
Do not connect it to a dedicated 5gHz network because it will not connect to this kind of network.
IMPORTANT
Make sure you type-in the EXACT name and password of your Wi-Fi network. This is a case-sensitive field. For example, if your network name is Household 2.4, type-in Household 2.4

*** household 2.4 is NOT THE SAME AS Household 2.4 ***

If your Wi-Fi password was entered correctly, you will see the GREEN Wi-Fi light turn ON at the back of your GHL Doser. You can proceed to the next step as long as the Wi-Fi light is ON.

8. Select Automatically (DHCP)

9.Press Open WiFi Settings Now and connect to the doser’s hotspot signal, then come back to this page (see image below) and press NEXT

10. Give this connection a name; Doser home

This will be your dedicated connection which you will use when you are home (phone or tablet connected to Wi-Fi) and want to connect to your doser through your network.

Create Backup Connection

A backup connection is highly recommended because it gives you another way to access your GHL Doser if your home network goes down. The steps below will show you how to set this up quickly and easily.

1. From the “My Devices” page, press ADD DEVICE

2. Select your GHL Doser (2.2 or 2.2 Maxi)

3. Select Add a configured device

4. Leave this page as-is

5. Type-in the name you want to give to this hotspot connection, then press DONE

Your new connection will now be listed in the “My Devices” page.

How do I connect to this backup?

If you ever need to connect via the backup connection, do the following:

  1. Use your phone or tablet and search for nearby Wi-Fi networks
  2. Connect to your Doser’s hotspot signal
  3. Enter password Starfish if prompted
  4. Once connected, go to the GHL Connect app and choose the backup connection

Connect to Doser via your Wi-Fi network

Now that you have connected the doser to your Wi-Fi network, the next step will be to select the home connection you made earlier.

  1. From the “My Devices” page, select your Doser Wi-Fi connection
  2. Once you see the Dashboard, you are connected to your doser
